Activity 2: Interpretative sociological approaches

Allow 20 minutes

 

Consider the following encounter:

 

'A consultation between a pregnant woman and her doctor regarding the decision as to whether to have a home birth rather than a hospital birth.'

 

Describe how each of the participants (doctor and pregnant woman) in the encounter, might have a different interpretation of what is going on.
