HealthKnowledge Training Modules

The Informing Healthier Choices Strategy sets out an approach that will strengthen health information and intelligence resources across England. This includes supporting and developing the knowledge and skills of not only the information workforce but also anyone who aims to use information to inform decision making in the NHS and Local Government organisations.

A Public Health Skills and Career Framework (PHSCF) has been developed that describes the skills and knowledge needed within the public health workforce (http://www.phru.nhs.uk/Pages/PHD/public_health_career_framework.htm) across the nine career levels identified by Skills for Health. As a result of these initiatives it was agreed that a suite of training modules would be developed to meet the knowledge requirements identified in the PHSCF for information and intelligence staff up to and including level 6. However, these modules are equally of value to those not working within information and intelligence.

Registration/Login gives you access to the tutor notes that support the .ppt slides as well as the workbooks.

*It is recommended that if the full suite of modules is required, then they should be delivered in the order listed as each module builds on the learning from the previous module.

Although these modules were developed to suit the needs of information and intelligence staff they are also of benefit to other health and wellbeing professionals.  It is advisable to consider the requirements of other professionals, particularly in the information and intelligence modules, to determine if any pre-learning is required. A framework has been produced that cross references the modules and ‘know how’ competencies.

Additional facilitator guidance, PowerPoint presentations including training notes, editable workbooks and case studies are available for anyone wishing to use these materials in a not-for-profit environment.
