The accuracy of a test is how good it is at identifying whether a person has a condition or not. One of the main reasons a test should achieve good accuracy is so that a treatment known to be effective in a particular condition can be given only to people who truly have the disease. Accuracy is not the only feature of a test we may need to evaluate. We can also access repeatability and the impact of a test when used in combination with an appropriate treatment on a patient outcome like cure or survival.
